Taiwan and Their Volcanic Activity

Taiwan is known for its cluster of natural hazards ranging from earthquakes to tsunamis and even volcanoes. While many countries have hundreds of volcanoes in them, Taiwan is subject to 13 different volcanoes making Taiwan lower on the threat scale compared to countries that have hundreds. These volcanoes are Chilung Group, Huapinghsu, Kueishantao, Mienhuayu, Pengchiahsu, Datun/Tatun Group, Tsaolingshan, Zengyu, and five unnamed ones. While most have never erupted or showed activity, a few have, those being Kueishantao, Datun Group, Zengyu and one unnamed. The rest are seen as “probably” extinct.

Those select Volcanoes have had eruptions in the past years ago, one even being documented by  a

Dynasty years ago. Luckily none have erupted recently and tho there is not too much concern, Taiwan is

still implementing volcano warnings for its citizens. The actual size of the volcanoes as well various from

one to the next where some sit at around 400-ish meters elevation wise and others sit at over 1000.

Luckily the volcanoes should be no problem with the new warning system in place by Taiwan just in case.

The new public warning system alerts of all natural threats and for volcanoes specifically gives a number

warning where 2 is the biggest threat and 0 is it being dormant.
